Born and raised right here in the beautiful Tennessee Valley, Brittany Shaw joined the WDEF News 12 team as a reporter in February 2012. Brittany attended the University of Tennessee in Chattanooga on a music scholarship, where the always-curious student took classes from just about every department and was Editor-in-Chief of the student newspaper en route to earning her B.A. in English.

Immediately after graduation, Brittany accepted an internship with R&R Marketing as their Social Media Guru, and worked part-time as a photojournalist for the Chattanooga Times Free Press. After numerous suggestions from fellow students, co-workers, and others to explore the idea of television news, she landed a freelancing gig with WDEF News 12 and did indeed discover a passion for the joys and challenges of broadcast journalism.

In the meantime, Brittany received her Associate Broker’s Real Estate License and continued to pursue a Masters in Business Administration while she worked as an assistant manager at a real estate office. Ready for a change of pace, she joined the team full-time in 2012 and has enjoyed getting to know even more people and places in and around Chattanooga. A quote from Yann Martel’s “The Life of Pi” sums up Brittany’s news philosophy quite well: “The more you look, the more you see.” There are always two sides - at the least - to every story.

In her spare time, Brittany, a creative spirit, enjoys pursuing business and real estate education, practicing yoga, lifting weights, traveling, and spending time with her family, her Pug, Fiona, and her husband, Taylor.
