Weekend Sports Anchor Webb Wright joined the WDEF News 12 team in July of 2008, and has over a decade of television experience as a sports anchor and reporter in the Tennessee Valley.
Originally from Florence, South Carolina, Webb has grown to love the city of Chattanooga and its many local attractions.
He began his professional career at WIS-TV in Columbia, South Carolina as a News and Sports Photographer. Webb later moved on to Cleveland, Tennessee to become the Sports Director at WTNB. Since then, Webb has also been a Sports Anchor and Reporter at WDSI and WRCB here in Chattanooga, before calling News 12 home and joining the WDEF news team.
Webb received a Bachelor's degree in English with minors in Mass Communication and Political Science from Francis Marion University in Florence, SC. From there, he moved on to the University of South Carolina, where he studied in the Masters of Mass Communications program. Webb is proud to be both a Patriot and a Gamecock!
Early on, Webb was always interested in the media, getting his first job in high school at the local radio station, WJMX in Florence, SC. While studying in Columbia, he also worked at Fox 102, a classic rock radio station, and produced local recruiting guru Phil Kornblut's statewide SportsTalk radio show. In addition, Webb also taught high school English for a year at nearby Saluda High School.
In his free time, Webb enjoys reading, writing, and watching movies, along with enjoying the various activities Chattanooga has to offer. When he's not working weekends, Webb enjoys walking around downtown, hanging out with friends, meeting new people, and pulling for his home state Gamecocks!
