What a wet and active weekend. Of course we had the rain, but we had several reports of wind damage from Bridgeport, AL to Ringgold, GA and even a few trees knocked down in the Chattanooga area from Friday to last night.
The most significant report close to home occurred near Crossville, where early last night, an apparent tornado struck with numerous reports of buildings damaged and trees snapped. At one time, there was a report of injuries. Here is the latest.
We picked up around 3 inches of rain since Friday in Chattanooga, but other areas certainly saw more. Area Rivers are still rising this morning and Flood Warnings continue for a few local rivers and creeks. ALL rivers and creeks will crest today with only minor flooding possible. Click here for warnings.
For the rest of your Monday, expect a mostly cloudy sky with a chance of a few showers. The cold front that helped lay the tracks for the weekend storms, will push to the south allowing drier air to move in. A few breaks in the clouds are likely with highs in the low 70s.
Tonight we become partly cloudy and remain mild with lows near 60.
Your Tuesday is “iffy”. An area of storms continues to develop in the Great Plains at this hour and could arrive locally by tomorrow morning. If the rain holds together, expect showers around sunrise but quickly end by late morning, otherwise partly cloudy with highs in the 70s.
Just as we begin to dry out, another area of disturbed weather moves in for Wednesday with heavy rain and thunderstorms likely. There is a chance that a few storms could be strong or severe as indicated by the risk area below. Highs in the upper 70s to near 80.
Thursday should be dry but another round of storms on your Friday as a cold front passes through. At this point the WEEKEND LOOKS DRY!
How much more rain are we looking at? Here is the 5-day outlook from the HPC. 1-3" MORE possible by Friday.
Off to Ooltewah Elementary to visit with the second grade!
See you soon,
Brian
