The fighting in the former Soviet state of Georgia hasn't been going on very long.

But we've already seen dramatic incidents where journalists have become targets.

Two Georgian journalists were killed in the first days of fighting.

But here is the video that got the most play last week.

A reporter from Georgian Public Broadcast TV was doing a live shot from a checkpoint outside of the town of Gori.

Reporter Shot By Sniper While On The Air

Here is a translation of what they are saying.

Tamara Urushadze, TV reporter: "Oh my God. Oh my God something... what is this?"
Crew member: "A bullet, a bullet."
Crew member: "She got shot."
Crew member: "Get the camera."
Studio news presenter: "You are seeing live, that some incident took place, while broadcasting live, we unfortunately can't exactly understand what is going on."
Crew member: "What happened?"
Tamara Urushadze: "Give me the microphone please."
Studio newspresenter: "Apparently the news broadcaster was shot."
Tamara Urushadze: "Right now I got a shot with a bullet, but luckily I didn't receive a direct shot, it scratched my hand. As you can see. Supposedly it was a sniper, because the whole day today behind us snipers were standing, I think it was some kind of a bullet. I can't say anything else right now, because we can't see anyone here and I don't know who made a shot."

Then we have the case of the Turkish Journalists.

They were in a car, crossing into South Ossetia, when they came under fire.

Turkish Journalists Under Fire

Two of them were hit, but none of the injuries were that serious.

Turkish TV cannot say who fired the shots.

But the journalists were taken by Russian troops, interrogated and assaulted, before their network negotiated their release.

Here is the translation for this incident.

Turkish Journalist, name unknown: (dialogue as bullets continued to be fired at their vehicle)
"Get down! Get down! (Saying a prayer in Arabic) Be quiet! Press! Press! Press! Be quiet, friends! The car isn't working, is it? No, the tyre's burst. Just be quiet, they will come to us. I got hit on my arm. Be quiet.
(Journalist speaking on phone): I injured my head, I am fine but a few minutes later.
(Journalist speaking to the other occupants of the car) Don't open the door.
(Phone operator asking) Are you OK guys?
(Journalist speaking on phone) Yes, we are OK.
(Phone operator asking) Anyone injured?
(Journalist speaking on phone) Yes.
(Journalist talking amongst each other) They are moving. They look like soldiers.
( Journalists) (English) Hey! Hey! Journalist! Press! Press! Go guys."
-- Turkish journalists get out of vehicle with arms raised UPSOUND (English) "Journalist! Ambulance!"
-- Journalists removing their t-shirts to use as a bandage for the Turkish journalist who sustained head injuries
-- Various of Turkish journalists with their arms raised UPSOUND (English) "Ambulance, Police, Help!"
