Talking Politics: New Ads, WDEF Poll & Chuck Norris
Over the weekend, we tested the political waters just about ten weeks before the Presidential Primary in Georgia, Alabama and Tennessee.
Circle February Fifth on your voting calendar next year.
We asked you to pick your favorite democrat in the race (republicans come next week).
And as of Monday, here are the top winners.
1. Hillary Rodham Clinton
2. John Edwards
3. Barak Obama
4. Undecided
But the "no democrats" option led them all.
The poll is active all week, so you can still vote and leave us your comment here.
I've shown you several ads from Fred Thompson, which haven't aired in our market.
So, in keeping with the spirit of the poll, here are the latest spots from democratic candiates released over the last week.
Hillary Clinton is underscoring her commitment to Healthcare with this ad about helping out a constituent.
Barak Obama shares a little about his personal life and his commitment to education.
And we have a couple of John Edwards spots highlighting healthcare & jobs.
I should wait for next week to talk about the republicans, but I can't let this ad go by.
Candidate Mike Huckabee has called in a heavy hitter in his latest campaign ad from his website.
It's a take-off on the popular "Chuck Norris Fact Generator."
An example: "Chuck Norris once tried skipping a rock across the Pacific Ocean. We now know this rock as Haley's Comet."
So here's the Huckabee version.
HUCKABEE
OOPS HOW COME YOU DIDNT ACCIDENTLY SAY SOMETHING ABOUT RON PAUL YOU MEDIA WHORE. KNOW WHY THE WASHINGTON TIMES IS CLOSING DOWN IN 10 YEARS THEY ARE NOT MAINSTREAM MEDIA. THEY DONT REPRSESNT THE VIEWS OF THE PEOPLE AND NOW THAT THE INTERNET IS HERE PEOPLE DONT GIVE TIME TO THE BIG 3 ANYMORE. THE JOB YOUR SELLING YOUR COUNTRY AND YOUR FAMILY OUT FOR ISNT GOING TO BE THIER MUCH LONGER OOPS. YOUR FAMILY IS EMBARRASED OF YOU. A LAWYER WOULD BE A BETTER PROFESSION INSTEAD OF YELLOW JOURNALISM.
Huckabee will win because of Chuck Norris support!
I checked out Chuck's weekly column and it's really good! I didn't know he wrote a weekly article-- and he actually defends Huckabee's various positions very well...

"Rick" Huckaby
Oops, sorry I posted this prematurely earlier in the evening. Several of you noticed that I referred to candidate Mike Huckabee as Rick. I must confess a problem with the Arkansas Governor's name. Every time I see it, he reminds me of the dreaded rival during my days at UTC. Rick Huckaby coached basketball at Marshall, back when they had a fierce rivalry with the Mocs for Southern conference domination.
I really should know better by now, because one of my co-workers is a huge Mike Huckabee fan, but I can't tell you which one. And clearly he has a sense of humor.
So when I unposted the stories, I also lost your comments.
Feel free to re-file your objections.
