On a different note, I never
On a different note, I never thought a slow death could be anything but slow. I've never heard anyone say "oh he's quickly dying a slow death" or "he's slowly dying a quick death." So don't you think it was a tiny bit redundant to say that the show "is slowly dying a slow death."
On the actual subject here, I think Drew Carrey has done fine as a host. Granted he is not the same as Bob Barker, but don't you think if he were, that people would say he was being fake and trying to be too much like Bob? He is a completely different person, with different ways to host. Which is what everyone should have been expecting the minute they knew that Bob was leaving; someone DIFFERENT will be hosting.
As for a lack of emotion, I really think it's just the way his voice is. He's not trying to act, or pretend anything. How would you react if every time he asked someone if there is someone they want to say hello to his face lit up with a huge rediculous grin and raised the pitch of his voice? He's just being who he is. Yes there are other people out there who would also be good hosts, but give the guy a chance here.
It is perfectly understandable for people to be attached to the way Bob Barker did things, because he was the host for what 100 yrs or so (yes that's an exaggeration). Simply because people got attached to his ways of hosting the show, couldn't keep him from eventually having or needing to retire. Which of course means, in comes new blood. I would personally hate to see Drew Carrey leave the show, because I think he relates to the young and old, is personable, friendly and funny. Keep it up Drew!!
