Chattanooga Hamilton County Republican delegates choose their candidate for Hamilton County Sheriff. Jim Hammond got the vote of approval with 148 votes. Vince Dean came in second with 134. Hammond spent 17 years as chief deputy of the sheriff's department. He says he's humbled to get the nomination. His next step is to meet with advisors to formulate the best plan to give the citizens what they want. "I think the citizens want to know that their kids are safe at school. They want to know their family is safe on the road. They want to know they're safe in their homes from those who would break in and steal from them. They want to know they can go out in public without fear of having to be molested killed or hurt. They want to know the one that need to be in jail and they certainly want to know that we're dealing with the drug issues" Independent Jim Winters will also be on the August ballot.
