Howard High School Alumni celebrate raising 60 thousand dollars for the school library. They got together with school and community leaders to thank donors who helped raise the money. Some of the cash already went toward books to expand the library. More material will be ordered immediately. Organizers say the library needed an upgrade. They say the grass roots effort mean a lot to students Gerald Mason told us; "It shows that people care number one. The community cares. Alumni care. Citizens care. That's the number one thing and them I'm so proud because it was conducted mainly in the black community" Howard Alumni got donations from the community and businesses for the Library drive. Mason says other schools have started similar drives to improve their libraries.
