Lee University Student Hit By Car
I'm not surprised.
I live in Cleveland, and travel Ocoee Street many times a week. Lee University has a cross-walk for students that crosses Ocoee. State law says that vehicles must stop for pedestrians in the cross-walk, which normally would not be a problem... but Lee University students have developed the habit of stepping out into the cross-walk without bothering to see if oncoming traffic has seen them or not. Some even glare defiantly at oncoming traffic as they step out in front of moving vehicles.
I don't know if this was the case in this accident, and I truly hope that it wasn't. It is tragic that the girl was hurt at all. Hopefully this will serve as a reminder of just how dangerous this location can be... for both the residents of Cleveland and Lee University students alike.
