Hundreds of special needs athletes participated in the Special Olympics at Dalton High School.
The track and field day featured events such as the long jump, shot put and wheelchair races.
Special Olympics coordinator Lisa Hughey says there are local events year-round for participants, but the olympics activities are the big draw.
Hughey says,"These kids get to come out, they have a fun event, they have a day where they are the focus. These are their events, this is what they do."
The Carpet City Rotary Club and the Dalton Parks and Rec department sponsored the Special Olympics.
Dalton High School students volunteered to help athletes in their events.
