Blue Hole Accident
Submitted by Amanda Odom on June 15, 2008 - 10:57pm. News | Hamilton County News An accident in Mowbray sent a man to the hospital Sunday night.
It happened around 7 o'clock near Blue Hole in the Pocket Wilderness, near Soddy Daisy.
The victim was in a pine tree at the Blue Hole when he fell 15 to 20 feet, landing on his head.
Rescue crews had to hike over a mile into the woods to reach him.
Soddy Daisy Fire Department Paramedic Butch Smith says, "It's like an Indian scalping, and it had flapped over on the left side of his head. It's a very significant injury. Usually, it's associated with large amounts of blood loss, but luckily he didn't have the extreme blood loss that's normal."
Emergency workers patched up the victim before bringing him out.
They took him to Erlanger in stable condition.
