Removal of Rights
It sounds to me that the view of the world you hold is very skewed. It is more likely that the criminals you speak of would think, "Now I am the only one with a gun!" It is not the guns or the bullet that kills people, it is the individual holding it with either a power trip or various other reasons without gun safety education. Why should the government take away our rights to protect ourselves? Truly, if the criminal wants to harm you they will do so whenever, however and with whatever they want. Following your train of thought, what's next? Take away all kitchen knives too?
