Some local kids added another event to their list of experiences at the Riverpark this afternoon.
They took part in the "Touch a Truck" day.
It's an annual event started back in 2003 by Parents Are First Teachers.
Several hundred people came out, making the event bigger this year.
It gives kids an opportunity to get a close look at things they see everyday.
Sponsors says research shows that kids who spend quality time with their parents having fun are less likely to become problem teens.
Marguerite Chambers with Parents Are First Teachers says, "It was begun as a way to demonstrate and to tell parents that it is very important for them to go out to parks, to play with their children, to be involved in very aspect of their play life."
Not only was the event free, but kids got pizza and a T-shirt.
There was also other activities like face painting and Kids On The Block puppeteers, plus information about maintaining good health and free screenings.
