Convenience Entices Chattanooga Area Residents to Recycle

There's really no longer an excuse not to recycle if you live in the Chattanooga area. The City just started offering curbside pick ups every two weeks instead of once a month. And local company Scenic City Recycling does it every week for a fee. The convenience entices a growing number of customers to go green.
Leland Carter sorts bottles, cans, plastics cardboard and paper from a Red Bank customer. The co owner of Scenic City Recycling stays busy with around 100 stops per day. He and Joe Fowlkes got into the recycling business in July of 2007...offering weekly curbside pickup for a fee all over the Chattanooga area. Fowlkes says Scenic City picks up around 10 or 15 clients every week. The City of Chattanooga expects to add more customers to its recycling rolls too, now that its offering curbside pick up every two weeks instead of once a month. The products get sorted at the Orange Grove recycling center. You have to sign up for the city's bi-weekly curbside pick up online or by phone.
