It's a happy coincidence of the calendar.
A local Army Reserve unit returns from Iraq... On the most patriotic weekend of the year.
The 591st Transportation Detachment have been in Iraq for a year.
WDEF News 12's Mandy Odom was there for the homecoming Friday afternoon in a News 12 Update.
The 591st were originally scheduled to arrive home in Chattanooga Saturday on July 4th, but they just couldn't wait.
They arrived early Friday around 2 o'clock.
Family members and friends were ready with flags, banners, and lots of hugs and kisses.
Here's a look at their happy reunions.
There is an official welcome home ceremony for the 591st on August 22nd.
It'll be at the V-F-W on Lee Highway at one o'clock.
In Chattanooga, Mandy Odom, WDEF News 12.
