It's the time of year when the threat of fire increases... as the weather cools down and we turn on the heat. And depending on how you heat your home, there's another equally sinister danger that's harder to spot. That's why fire officials urge folks to check their heating units before using them.
Scott Caldwell, Scenic City Heating and Air, "Check the freon pressure." It's the start of the busy season for Heating and Air Service Technician Scott Caldwell. He says now's the time to have your heating unit checked. It's a call that could save you money.. and more importantly fire officials say it could save your life. And fire isn't the only danger. Carbon Monoxide poses a serious threat. It's also a good time to check the batteries on your carbon monoxide and smoke detectors. Firefighters urge an ounce of prevention is well worth it...especially in this economy. Davis, "I think they want to keep what they got. They don't want to take a damage on ruining anything they got because, you know, it's hard enough to have what you got right now."
