Golden Apple Award, Richard Pokorny
What a wonderful surprise it was for me, mother of Golden Apple Award recipient, Richard Pokorny, to read and watch the video about Rich. It goes without saying that his father and I are very proud of him. While in college he expressed his desire to become a teacher. We tried to steer him into higher paying occupations but he persisted on becoming what he loves. Before he moved to Tennessee, he was names the teacher of the year for his school in Riverview, Florida. We really thought he was making a mistake by moving out to state but again mom and dad were wrong! He and his family have fallen in love with Tennessee and think of it as their home. Rich is a wonderful teacher and loves his profession and he will make a significant impact on all the students he touches. I know I'm just his mom, but Red Bank, Tennessee is lucky to have him!
