
Will Chattanooga Residents Face a Tax Hike Next Year?

Chattanooga has raised several fees this year.. But officials have held the line on property taxes.
But don't expect that to continue next year.
Councilman Jack Benson says the city's capital budget is a mess.
He tells News12 that he's depressed over the city's finances right now...![]()
And says the federal government has stopped funding items they paid for in the past.
Jack Benson\City Council Member:
"The city of Chattanooga has not had a tax increase in 9 years so it stand to reason with all the pressures on us unless we can find a way to cut back we're going to have to get more revenue from the tax base next year."
Benson says a tax increase is NOT imminent but he sees it as a real possibility.
