Michael Vick

Yes Michael Vick is being used as an example, what he did turned back everything that Pit Bull Advocates such as myself have been working on. People fail to understand that service agencies, city, county, state, and federal agencies use the Pit Bull Dog for the amount of stamia and strength that these dogs have compared to others. You constantly see the negative that is reported in the press about these dogs, however, when they save a person that story is found buried or not even reported. That is nothing but irresponsible journalism that defames and slanders the Pit Bull when in a majority of the cases it was another breed of dog.
Michael Vick should have served a minimum of five years and been banned from owning any type of animal for the rest of his life. All Vick did was throw a little money at HSUS, and there were no mention of remorse until NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell mentioned that Vick could be reinstated if he showed remorse.
There was no one to speak for the death and destruction that he brought to these poor animals that were unable to speak up against the abuse they faced at the hands of Michael Vick.
On Care2Petition, there are several petitions asking NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell to ban Vick for life from professional football. Pete Rose one of the best baseball players in history was banned for life for gambling, yet Vick is able to run an illegal dog fighting group that brought him between $20,000 and $50,000 or higher per fight.
I personally have sent an email to Roger Goodell telling him that if he reinstates Michael Vick, that I will no longer be a supporter of the NFL and that many family and friends feel the same as I do. Email Roger Goodell at Roger.Goodell2@nfl.net or call him at (212) 450-2000 or (212) 450-2027, you will get a machine, but let the commissioner know that you do not support him returning to football.
Vick tried everything he could to avoid prison, he stated that he was addicted to Marijuana and needed to go to rehab, and when that didn't work, he then said that he had found God, which is what almost every person says to either avoid prison or when they are seeking to be released.
Michael Vick's action but attention to the Atlanta Falcons Football team, where Vick was notorious for his off the field escapades that brought shame to the other members of the team, and management of the Falcons.
