CHATTANOOGA, TN, (WDEF-TV)-- The Chattanooga Market paired with the American Cancer Society to recognize our dogs for the roles they play in our lives.
The Executive Director of the ACS Lisa Bishop and organizer of Bark For Life sees how valuable our dogs can be.
""We have found that the caregivers in a cancer patients life is not just about the brother, the sister, or the husband, or another human in their life," she said. "We found that our four-legged pets are also very good caregivers for our survivors as they're going through the journey of cancer."
Bishop understands that many people consider their pets as family, and that's why Bark For Life is important for all involved.
She said, "It's just a neat thing to see how really all the dogs come together and get a long in the fight against cancer."
Cancer isn't just a battle humans have to fight. There was a dog that was diagnosed with cancer that participated in the race.
