The battle of Tunnel Hill came alive again this weekend.
The Historic Western and Atlantic Railroad Tunnel hosts a trip back into the days of the Civil War.
More than 500 people take part in the re-enactment every year.
And hundreds watch from the sidelines.
The Battle of Tunnel hill happened in September of 18-64 as the war between the states was winding down.
Re-enacters say the whole experience is about educating the public.
Ken Sumner, Major General Commanding Enactment Battle of Tunnel Hill says, "but rather remembering what did occur. In our country, the history that we have, whether it's right or wrong, good bad, or indifferent, it what makes us who we are today."
