(WDEF) The Bessie Smith Cultural Center and Friends of the Festival are excited to announce this year’s acts for the Bessie Smith Strut on Monday, June 9, 2014.
They include: Roots Rock N Roller Nikki Hill; Funk Artist Andy Allo; blues artists Big James and the Chicago Playboys and the Rusty Wright Band; Boukou Groove (with Destin, Florida’s Donnie Sundal and New Orleans guitar luminary Derwin “Big D” Perkins); and the Strut 2014 headliner Grammy nominated blues and musical legend Bobby Rush.
Bobby Rush is a musical pioneer, a musician, guitarist, and singer, songwriter, who, along with peers of his day, has directly influenced many popular artists of the generations that have followed. He will perform on the Bessie Smith Cultural Center Stage at 8:35 p.m.
Tickets are $7 in advance (through June 6th) or with a Riverbend pin; $10 at the gate without a pin. Advanced tickets may be purchased at the following outlets:
