(WDEF) Chattanooga Firefighters took time Monday to battle another growing threat hunger.
One in six adults and one in four children struggle with hunger in the Scenic City.
Monday kicked off the 7th annual Firefighters Fight Against Hunger food drive.
It's to help the Chattanooga Area Food Bank meet its goal to eliminate hunger and promote better nutrition.
We caught up with Chattanooga Mayor Andy Berke donating food items at Northtown Square in Hixson.
He said, "We know there are a lot of people going hungry in our community.  By stepping up and saying we as firefighters want to help out by encouraging others to do so, we contribute in so many ways to growing the capacity in our area."
The drive runs all week, through Sunday the 18th.
You can drop off monetary or non-perishable food donations at any of the 19 Chattanooga fire stations.
