CHATTANOOGA, Tennessee(WDEF) - Police are investigating two late night shootings that killed a 13-year old and injured two adults.

Around 11:30 Monday night at a residence on the corner of East 50th Street and Walthall, a gunman stood outside and shot several rounds of ammunition into the house. Inside was a 13-year old boy who was fatally struck.
Several of those bullets penetrated the house next door where a mother and her two young children were sleeping. The neighbor did not want to be identified but told WDEF what police said about the bullet that came within several feet of her daughters bedroom.

"They said it was the whole head of the bullet that came in and not just fragments."
Police are looking into whether the fatal shooting is related to an earlier shooting that occurred in a nearby neighborhood on the 5200 block of Central Avenue.

Terri Marsh, 55, and her husband Willie Marsh, 55 were both hit by bullets while they were in their home. Neighbors told WDEF the bullets were fired from outside the house. Willie Marsh suffered a minor gun shot injury to his leg but his wife suffered a serious gunshot injury to her stomach.

A bullet riddled SUV that was located in front of the home where the teenager was killed was taken into evidence. Authorities are trying to find out if the vehicle was involved in the shooting on Central Avenue.

Police have not identified the child who died and they say they don't have a motive behind either shooting.

WDEF will have more information as it becomes available.
