Six people in all are challenging incumbent Chuck Fleischmann for the district 3 seat.

In Monday's health care forum, almost all challengers offer their 2 cents on the Affordable Care Act. With his bowtie and all, Scottie Mayfield sits down for the first time with his opposition.

Scottie Mayfield, "We need to look for ways to reduce administrative costs, we need to make sure we have an appropriate amount of preventative care, especially with children. And, I think, we can do all this in a free market system."

Not far off from the opinions of his Republican Challengers.

Ron Bhalla, "I would say we need to have the private insurance, preventative care and we do need to have the insurance companies reduce the premiums and deductibles."

Weston Wamp, "I think what we can do is very responsibly, give tax credits to people. So they can make their own decisions."

Chuck Fleischmann, "We cannot allow a law that takes over one sixth of the economy literally, hurts the medical profession, hurts the consumers ultimately, may put the medical device companies out of business."

Democrat and Doctor Mary Headrick holds a different point of view.

Mary Headrick, "I would never dream of repealing something that has required so much to gain. Things like no exclusions for pre-existing illness."

Other Democratic Challenger, Bill Taylor, vies for a health care reform but with some changes.

Bill Taylor, "I think we don't want to lose the insurance reforms that are included in there but there are things that do need to be repealed and improved."

These candidates will be slimmed down during the primaries on August 2nd.
