Construction is set to begin Tuesday in the parking lot of the Hamilton Place Mall.
Officials will build a new roundabout near the Gunbarrel Road entrance.
The intersection will remain open during the construction.
The project is expected to be completed in October.
The hope is a roundabout will function more efficiently than the three-way stop currently in place.
Even though the intersection will stay open there are ways to detour the construction:
Via Gunbarrel Road: Take either Landress Drive or Commons Boulevard
Via Shallowford Road: Take Hamilton Place Boulevard
Via East Brainerd Road: Take N. Concord Road
From I75: All mall entrances / exits from I-75 will be unaffected
