(WDEF) The Dalton Police Department is asking for the public’s help with identifying a person investigators believe may have information regarding an entering auto and credit card fraud case. This person of interest was recorded on surveillance at an area service station around the same time that a stolen credit card was used to buy fuel. This person is not necessarily a suspect, but investigators are hoping that he may have witnessed someone using the stolen card.

The original theft happened sometime in the early morning hours of October 9th when someone entered an unlocked car parked on South Goose Hill Road in Dalton and stole golf clubs and a wallet containing $300 in cash and several credit cards along with the victim’s driver’s license and passport. After checking with his credit card company, the victim reported that his car had been used at the Mapco service station at 2830 Chattanooga Road. Investigators found no surveillance video of the gas pump area, but did find the attached image of a white male entering the store at about the same time the stolen card was used. He wore khaki shorts and a burgundy pullover with a green hat. The individual had a beard and wore glasses. Again, this individual is not necessarily considered a suspect in this case, but investigators would like to contact him to find out if he saw someone using the stolen card.

Anyone with information on this theft or the identity of the individual in the attached surveillance image is asked to please contact Detective Matt Lowery at 706-278-9085, extension 133.
