Dalton Police Standoff Situation

DALTON, GA (WDEF-TV) 45-year-old Brent Pickard of Ooltewah, Tennessee barricaded himself into in to Elgiere Manufacturing facility on South Hamilton Street in Dalton.

This was shortly after 5:30 Tuesday afternoon. Pickard reportedly had an argument with his wife in the parking lot of the Elgiere manufacturing facility where they both work.

Pickard, who investigators said was intoxicated, became agitated and went into the building. Investigators said his wife told them he had a gun.

Dalton officers said there were no hostages at any point in this standoff. They were able to surround the building and began negotiating with Pickard.

After meeting with his attorney and Dalton detectives inside, he agreed to leave and be transported by ambulance to Hamilton Medical Center around 9:30 that night.

Pickard was armed with at least one firearm but information about the type is not available.

At this time, no charges have been filed against Mr. Pickard. This incident is still being investigated and charges may be filed at a later date.
