DPD Welcomes Two New Officers
The Dalton Police Department’s three newest officers received their badges in a ceremony Friday afternoon at the Police Services Center, officially marking the start of their duties with the agency. Officers Michael Purcell and Colton Parker both graduated from the police academy in Dalton earlier this month.
Officer Purcell is a native of Toccoa, Georgia and graduated from Stephens Count High School and North Georgia College and State University with a degree in criminal justice. He is a sergeant in the Army National Guard.
Officer Parker is a 2009 graduate of Murray County High School and is currently pursuing a criminal justice degree from Dalton State College.
Both officers will begin their duties as DPD officers by taking part in the agency’s field training program.
