DALTON, Georgia(WDEF) - Police are investigating how a sharp metal screw ended up in a woman's hamburger.

Angela Robinson said she nearly bit off more than she could chew after ordering a hamburger from the Sonic drive-in restaurant on Walnut Avenue.

"As I got half way into the burger, I took a bite and I bit down and said what in the world and when I picked the burger, I found a screw," Robinson said.

The screw was embedded inside the meat.

WDEF has learned that this isn't the first accusation that a foreign metal object was discovered inside of food that was ordered from the Walnut Avenue location.

Minutes before an interview was conducted with Robinson, a store manager at a next door business told WDEF that he would never eat at that Sonic restaurant next to his store after he found a staple in his food. He told WDEF that incident occurred a month ago.

Dalton Police are now investigating the claims to see if someone is purposely committing foul play.

Sonic corporate spokesperson, Patrick Lenow told WDEF the company takes these claims very seriously and that they're cooperating with local authorities. The company is also conducting an internal investigation.

"We will fully investigate to determine what might have occurred and if there is something that needs to be changed, we'll work to make changes to our procedures," said Lenow.

Robinson says she's not suing the restaurant but she doe's want people to know her claim is real. She would also like to make sure this never happens again to another customer.

"I never sued anyone before. I've never done anything like that before. I worked 12 hours; real hard that day and I always come to Sonic when I get off and I just wanted me a burger so I could go to bed. I don't have time to play games," Robinson said.

She's also confident the experience has left a bad taste in hour mouth.

"I will never eat at Sonic again," She said.

Lenow said if anyone has a similar experience, they can log onto the Sonic website to submit a claim or call the headquarter directly.

ALRIGHT STOP SCREWING AROUND!!! This is Sonic we are talking about!!! They make some of the best burgers anywhere.. If there is a disgruntled employee in the midst DONT take it out on the food or the public.. quit and go work somewhere else! I dont think its funny to have to worry about what we might bite into in a burger or any food for that matter! I Hope they find out the culprit thats doing this and take legal action on them.. what if that had been a small child that got that staple and ended up with it lodged in their throat! I tell ya there is no respect anywhere for anyone anymore... I don't think SONIC is the Blame but the person who is doing this should be punished severely!
