(WDEF) Mixed news out of the Dalton on the jobs front.
Dalton's unemployment rate ticked up 0.6% since April.
The May number came in at 8.8%.
But the good news is that higher number remains well below the 10.3% unemployment rate from May of last year.
Brian Anderson is the President of the Greater Dalton Chamber of Commerce.  He said, "We expect a large decline this year as some of our projects that have been announced during 2013 are coming on board now.  The plants are being finished and the lines are being put in, so we think between about August and December we'll see a significant number of new hirings which will lead that number to come down."
Officials say that small increase is seasonal as new graduates enter the work-force and students look for summer jobs.
Even though the unemployment rate rose, the number of jobs in the Dalton metro area actually increased by about 400 new jobs.
