Imagine coming to work every day and loving your job.
Well one lucky teacher at North Hamilton County Elementary says she gets her kids before anyone else... And she gets to watch them bloom.
Diana Fleshman is this week's Golden Apple Award winner.
With a little song... And a whole lot of fun these kindergarteners learn the days of the week and counting.
It's Diana Fleshman's kindergarten class.
Each child is involved and everyone gets a turn.
The 10 year veteran teacher says this is her favorite age, "You can mold them, shape them."
Fleshman incorporates sound and movement into every exercise.
She says that's the way her students learn best and she celebrates every lesson they grasp, "It's like this time of year we say everything blooms, these children are starting to read. It's incredible what they have learned this year. I love it."
Her parents love it too...
North Hamilton County Elementary parent Angie Keltch reads from her Golden Apple nomination letter, "She encourages each child to give their all."
Angie has had two children in Ms. Fleshman's room, her daughter Jeanna is flourishing this year.
Angie says Ms. Fleshman isn't afraid to be silly and have fun with her kids and she says each child feels special because of the teacher's attention, "She makes each child...she just focuses in on them and helps them to do to the best of their ability."
Ms. Fleshman says that's what she hopes to do.
She says her expectations for her students are pretty high, but as long as they have fun while they learn, everyone strives to do their best.
Ms. Fleshman smiles as she says, "I have good time, I enjoy it. I love... It's not even a job, really. I can't believe they pay me for this."
