While there is no big parade and street performances today in downtown Chattanooga those in the area are celebrating in their own way.

Janette Reed,"our HR Dept always celebrated Mardi Gras, and I can't be there with all my friends so i'm making new friends down here with a new cake".

Phil Gilles says, "Outlandish activities and nakedness, throwing stuff and eating fast food".

Koch's bakery on Broad street had sold over a 100 King Cakes by 10 am this morning and owner Barbara Davis says there is a big demand this year.

Barbara believes,"We have more people in Chattanooga that are celebrating with the king cakes and all that, than we did before, you know in years past, so you know it's become a good day for us and the King cakes."

The recipe has been past on from New Orleans and with 30 years of baking experience Barbara knows a thing or two about making a good cake.
