(WDEF) Federal agents investigate vandalism at a local civil war park.
Chickamauga and Chattanooga National Military Park officials say two cannons were damaged over the weekend.
It happened on the DeLong Reservation.
The park is now temporarily closed.
Jim Ogden is Park Historian. He explained, "It's unfortunate that damage has occurred to these pieces and right now necessitating the closure of the DeLong Reservation until the repairs are done, because folks who are in town visiting this historic site, the scene of an engagement that helped determine the outcome of our nation's civil war won't have that opportunity for a short time, and right now we're in the midst of spring break season with more folks traveling this week before Easter and the following week after, they'll be more folks around than say three weeks ago."
Ogden says the cannons can be repaired, but he isn't sure how long it might take.
