Free kidney screenings were available to the community at Abba's House in Hixson Thursday afternoon.

This was the first time the Kidney Foundation of the Greater Chattanooga Area held this event. The organization was prepared to test more than 200 people on a first come first serve basis. Each patient was able to see a nephrologist to be informed of their results. Jennifer McGlohon, Kidney Foundation of the Greater Chattanooga Area Executive Director said, "We will be screening lots of different things today to detect kidney disease. A lot of people do not know that there is no cure for kidney disease, so if we test and find risk factors, they can actually curb their disease from spreading and progressing. We are very excited to keep Chattanooga healthy."
