East Ridge takes another step forward to help clean up the city.
The city approves banning future extended stay hotels.
Right now, many of the hotels offer weekly and monthly stays.
Public Safety Director, Eddie Phillips, says many of these hotels have numerous public health issues.
Bed bugs have plagued a few of the hotels in recent months.
East Ridge Public Safety Director, Eddie Phillips says, "The city wants to put a stop to that. They want the hotels and motels to be used for what they were built to be used for and that's hotels and motels for transient occupancy and they want our apartments to be used for apartment complexes."
The hotels are also not equipped for long-term stay use.
