(WDEF) Hamilton County Sheriff Jim Hammond continues to pave the way toward a reelection campaign.
He spoke at Monday's Pachyderm Club meeting.
Sheriff Hammond touted the success he's had with the department to date.
He said during the past four and half to five years he's implemented 30 new programs, 90% of which have come to fruition.
The Sheriff said his relationship with new Chattanooga Mayor Andy Berke will be an asset heading forward.
Sheriff Hammond said, "I think he's looking at how can we do things different, especially in what I always see as the three primaries any politician has to address. Which is economic development, education and safety and security. I, of course, would represent the safety and security with this new task force he's putting together."
The Sheriff said he's been cleared by his family and his doctor, so we should expect to hear an announcement about his reelection campaign this fall.
