ROSSEVILLE, GA (WDEF-TV) Lakeview Ministries had its fifth annual toy drive this weekend, and it was to support needy families in the North Georgia area.
Church member Tina Rice was extremely grateful for everything they provided to her. She has two sick grandchildren at home, and was given the opportunity to shop for them.
“A lot of families don’t have the money to buy stuff,” she said. “I really appreciate the church for doing this.”
Co-Pastor David Hammontree was proud to announce they had received more than seventy-five hundred dollars this year. It was a fifty percent increase from last year.
He understands that this is more than just toys for kids during this Christmas season.
“If we all just reach out and help somebody and then that somebody reaches out and helps somebody else, then we can touch a lot of people, Hammontree said. “That's what it's all about this time of year."
Lakeview Ministries help their community all year long. Usher Joan James hears the concerns of church members, and she knows that events like these can lift people’s spirits.
She said, "I had one parent tell me that they weren't going to have nothing.” She then added, “She was in tears, and I told her don't say that. God will supply. And today I looked at her and I said to her see there I told you, God would supply."
Pastor Harmmontree and the church supplied many families with a memorable Christmas.
