Locals Get Educated on Concussions

        When a concussion happens, coaches and parents need to know how to handle it.
That's one reason UTC hosted their first free seminar educating the public on the all too common head injury.
        "It's not just football.  Football does have the most but that's a collision sport, that's why.  Girls soccer is second and the boys soccer and lacrosse is a big one," said organizer Scott Bruce.
        Locals are also getting a jump start on a new Tennessee law effective January.
        "It mandates that everyone from youth league all the way through college be educated on concussions if they have anything to do with athletes," Bruce said.
