Lorrie Holland is the 6th Grade Math Teacher at Loftis Middle School.
She's been teaching now for 25 years.
And ever since she was a little girl, she knew what she wanted to be when she grew up.
"I would get the neighborhood kids together and have school with them. As I was in High school and College, I thought about trying some other things and I would dabble in them, but I always came back to education."
Holland's dedication to her craft has paid off.
Hamilton County School District Leaders named her the 2013 Middle School Teacher of the Year.
Holland was shocked to get the award, because she works with so many other educators that work just as hard as she does.
"I work with wonderful teachers and they help me be who I am, they support me, they challenge me at the same time, and all of that helps you become who you are."
Loftis Principal Brent Eller says Holland does a great job in the classroom.
He should know about success.
Eller was recently named the 2013 Middle School Principal of the Year.
He's not surprised to see Holland succeed.
Eller says Holland does a great job of individualizing her instruction for her students.
Eller also thinks she's a role model, who holds kids accountable.
Holland knows she picked the right career.
"I like teaching because you can make a difference."
