36 hours in the cold rain is what it takes to raise enough bikes for local kids.
Dynamic Church Pastor Wesley Odum says they started the fundraiser last year when they wanted to find a way to help the Salvation Army..
"We actually just showed up at the door of the Salvation Army asking for a way we could be involved and to bless back and ran into this need. So last year we had a goal of raising 100 bike, this year the goal is 500," said Odum.
They encouraged Wal Mart shoppers on Gunbarel Road to give money or purchase a 50 dollar kids bike inside to donate.
The goal is that every child that asked for a bike for Christmas will find one under the tree this year.
"Those bikes go to 500 kids that have been identified with families who are in need this Christmas. So the Salvation Army is going to be distributing those in a few days so they go directly to them," Odum said.
We're told they've collected a little more than 300 bikes right now, and they'll be collecting the bikes and donations until five p.m. tomorrow.
