The Mayor's office today signed-off on an agreement with the Pension Task Force that ends a lengthy debate over benefits for Chattanooga's police and firefighters.
Mayor Andy Berke came to the Fraternal Order of Police headquarters to outline the plan.
He says it will say taxpayers up to 5 million dollars a year, and actually increase some benefits.
For instance, there will be 100% benefits for any safety employee killed in the line of duty.
It also does not lower monthly pension checks.
"I'm happy to be her today to say that with the hard work of a lot of people, we've been able to reach such a concensus," said Mayor Andy Berke.
The pension fund is still more than 150-million dollars under-funded.
