MCMINN COUNTY SHERIFF’S “WIPEOUT 2” CRIME SUPPRESSION OPERATION NETS 8 ARRESTS, METH LAB, MARIJUANA PLANTS

On Thursday, 4 teams of officers with the McMinn County Sheriff’s Office were out in force as they participated in a county-wide crime suppression event called “Wipeout 2”. The operation resulted in several arrests and the seizure of a meth lab and marijuana plants.

“This is the second such operation this year, as we respond to information our officers have received from citizens about suspected criminal activity,” said McMinn County Sheriff Joe Guy. “In addition, our narcotics division had several grand jury indictments handed down this month, so those led to several arrests as well. Some team members were also involved in saturation patrols in various areas of the county to hopefully help reduce car crashes and fatalities.”

Officers attended an 8AM briefing session at the Justice Center that outlined the plan and guidelines of the operation. “Crime Suppression Teams” were given assignments of locations and names of suspects to locate, and points such as such as professionalism and legal issues were addressed. The operation concluded around 5PM.

Officers served indictments and warrants on the following individuals:

“Several attempts have been made to serve the warrant on Mr. Millsaps over the past year,” said Sheriff Guy. “Today we were successful, and also located several large marijuana plants and a meth lab at his residence. He is a convicted felon, and was found to be in possession of a firearm, which could result in Federal charges.”

Guy said that additional Crime Suppression Operations are scheduled in the future.

“Aggressive enforcement is a key element in our efforts against drugs,” added Sheriff Guy. “We will continue these operations to hunt down drug traffickers in McMinn County.”
