CHATTANOOGA, Tennessee(WDEF) - One person is dead and another in jail after a stabbing incident.
Shortly after 6 A.M. on Monday, police were called to an apartment inside the College Hill Courts public housing development in reference to a stabbing.
"When they arrived, they found black male deceased," said Chattanooga Police Sgt. Wayne Jefferson.
That person has been identified as Charles Brown IV, 27, of Chattanooga. Investigators say his ex-girlfriend, Monica Delk, stabbed Brown in the chest.
Delk is now facing a criminal homicide charge.
Police said the stabbing actually occurred the night before when the two people got into an argument.
According to police, this wasn't the first time officers were called to that apartment.
Caught up in the middle of the incident were small children who were removed from the home and placed into protective custody. Investigators said the children were likely asleep when the stabbing occurred. The Department of Children Services is now in charge of placing the children in a suitable home.
WDEF did some background checking on Charles Brown IV and found out he has a lengthy criminal record that dates back to 2004. His rap sheet includes two domestic assaults, harassment and even violating a restraining order. He also had drug related arrest.
