Hundreds of residents gather in Walker County over the weeked for a Rally To Pray.
The event was in support of Ridgeland High School football coach Mark Mariakis.
The Freedom From Religion Foundation accused the school and Mariakis of violating students' first amendment rights.
Residents all around Walker County are standing up in support.

Ridgeland High School Sophomore, Ally Johnson says, "I love God and I think it's very important in our life because it just makes you a better person in general."

"We're not called to change the world but we're called to share the gospel and that that gospel will change lives," recalls Mariakis.

Walker County schools sent a response to the FFRF.
No word if they've heard back.

The coach has to use his position of authority to bring the Gosbul to a captive audience of unquestioning students. He has to tie religion to winning at a football game. The Gosbul cannot stand on its own because of its contradictions, immorality and superstitious vision. But, if he ties it to winning at a football game, then it seems to have more purpose. Good work coach. Prayer is brought down to the level of sports. When my team wins, it means god favored them more than your team. Our prayers worked better than your team’s prayers. I like this coach. He is helping America see how pathetic and silly praying and religion has become.

Americans should be aware that there is no god in the Constitution of the United States of America. The creator stated as the giver of our rights in the Declaration of Independence is "Nature and Nature's God" and Jesus taught not to flaunt religion in public and to pray in private. (Matthew 6) Although Romney is flat wrong that Obama is trying to remove IN GOD WE TRUST from our money, I remember that when Congress voted to require it, many religious Americans considered it grossly irreverent, quoting 1 timothy 6:10… "For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil, and in their eagerness to be rich some have wandered away from the faith and pierced themselves with many pains." Our government is not supposed to favor any religion, but observant Jews avoid writing any Name of God casually because of the risk that the written Name might later be defaced, obliterated or destroyed accidentally or by one who does not know better. Observant Jews avoid writing a Name of God on web sites like this one because there is a risk that someone else will print it out and deface it. To avoid writing the Name, Orthodox Jews (and sometimes other denominations) substitute letters or syllables, for example, writing "G-d" instead of "God." What are the chances of money being defaced? So many people mischaracterize the Constitution! (Some of the confusion may be because there WERE some state religions but no federal one until the Fourteenth Amendment required all levels of government to protect the federal freedoms.)

Be assured they will hear back. What you will hear is the sound of lawyers approaching your county with a copy of the Constitution with the first amendment highlighted. You will be sued in federal court and you will lose. Your emotional response to this situation will cost the taxpayers who fall within the boundaries of the governing entity responsible for this school will bear the burden of court costs for the prosecution and the defense. You cannot legally prostelyze for your religion in any setting that is dependent on tax dollars for it's operation. I'm sure there has been some research by the people involved in this and if they can't read the writing on the wall I'm sure they will be able to read the writing on the court decision. It's a matter of separation of church and State. Urge your school officials to do the right thing and stop the preaching and the prayers.
