(WDEF) Tense moments Saturday night in Red Bank, after a man who claimed to have explosives leads to the evacuation of residents on Tacoma Avenue.
At about 10:30pm Saturday, Red Bank Police officers went to an apartment on Tacoma Avenue.
The suspect, 24-year-old Chandler Wynn Mauldin, refused to open the door.
He told the officers he had a bomb and other weapons.
Several agencies, SWAT teams and negotiators arrived, and after a several hour-long standoff, Mauldin turned himself in.
That was around 4:00 o'clock Sunday morning.
Long after Mauldin's neighbors were evacuated.
Red Bank Police Chief Tim Christol said, "We evacuated all of the residents in the immediate area, we also went door-to-door to keep people that were in an area that we thought was generally safe in their homes to reduce their chance of any injury."
The Chattanooga Police Department Bomb Squad found what appeared to be a homemade explosive device.
     They disabled it.
The ATF and Red Bank Police will continue to investigate this incident.
