Relief for Carriage Parc Apartment Fire Victims

CHATTANOOGA, TN (WDEF-TV) First Tennessee Bank and the Red Cross are partnering up to help residents affected by the fire at Carriage Parc Apartments.

They are have stopped providing shelter, and now will provide a different kind of assistance.

Disaster Specialist David Hartsow saw the need for the transition.

“We’ve not had anybody to stay overnight,” he said. “What we’ve had is folk coming into the shelter for meals and information.”

Now the Red Cross will be giving information. As of Monday they will be a service center.

They will provide meals, but more importantly they will give help and guidance to get these residents back to normal.

City Councilman, Larry Grohn decided to reach out to his bank, First Tennessee, and start a fund. He learned that how people can help more effectively.

“We had a young lady that needed to go to work,” Grohn said. “And all she got out with was pretty much her pajamas and her coat.”

These 75 displaced tenants need help with clothes, prescriptions, glasses, and furniture. There are ways you can help.

You can donate to the American Red Cross. Go and donate clothes at the East Brainerd Goodwill. You can always visit the Salvation Army on McCallie Avenue and donate. Also, you can go to any First Tennessee Bank and donate there too.
