On September 10, 2012 at about 8:21 am East Ridge Police were dispatched to a burglary in progress at 807 S. Moore Road. A neighbor had observed two unknown black males ride bicycles to the rear of the residence and climb in through a window. Patrol units arrived within three minutes and established a perimeter around the residence after finding entrance had been made into the home through a rear window. A burglary suspect attempted to flee the residence and evade police on foot, but he was immediately apprehended by police units establishing the security perimeter. The East Ridge SWAT Team was activated at 9:10 am and responded to the scene. SWAT and K-9 officers performed a tactical entry into the residence to locate the second suspect. The second suspect was found hiding from police in the residence’s attic. Both suspects were successfully taken into custody.

Arrested were Joshua Rucker (black male, DOB: 12/11/1989) and Gregory A. Wilson (black male, DOB: 2/26/1991). They are both charged with Aggravated Burglary. Wilson will also be charged with Resisting Arrest.

Police officials praised the alert neighbors for their awareness of the suspicious activity and timely notification of police. Chief Eddie Phillips stated, “This is a great example of alert neighbors calling police and a fast police response resulting in successful arrests. This type of cooperation between the community and police is one of the best deterrents we have against crime. We urge all citizens to be alert for suspicious activity and notify police without hesitation if something seems out of place.”
