CHATTANOOGA, Tennessee(WDEF) -  Several EPB customers have been receiving phone calls saying their electric bill is past due and if they don't pay by using a certain debit card, their service will be disconnected.

The caller is asking customers to purchase a Green Dot debit card at a CVS store then call back to an 801-area code to make payments with that card.

The 801 area code belongs to Northern Utah.

An EPB spokesperson said it's a scam because the company would never ask a customer to call an out-of-state phone number.
