Senator Lamar Alexander is speaking out about a recent union appeal at the Volkswagen plant.
The United Auto Workers Union had asked the National Labor Relations Board to look at the vote against a union.
Union leaders claimed local politicians interfered with the vote at the local plant.
But then this week, the union dropped the appeal.
Senator Alexander says it's time to move on.
"We said from the beginning there couldn't be a better match than Volkswagen and Chattanooga. Let's put all the fuss about the union behind us. We had an election, the UAW lost, let them go back to wherever they came from and let's go back to building cars and trucks."
The U.S. Chamber of Commerce has endorsed Alexander's campaign for re-election.
